Before You Jump Off, #READTHIS

May 18, 2012 -  Living Inside The Outside Of The Ring w/ ONE Voice -

So, have these articles been interesting or what?  Not necessarily because of what I'm saying in them, but more because of the thought that comes from them.  People have become very quiet as they've gotten older about the things they loved growing up.  Watching wrestling would be one of those things.  This is our chance to let us really live in the moment of sports entertainment again.  We should all stop kidding ourselves.  When we hear someone talk about wrestling and they are above the age of 21/22, we are pretty happy - are we not?  It's almost like, oh man.  I'm not the only cat watching this stuff.  Now I don't have to distantly connect with the people in the crowd because I don't know enough people that are close to me that actually still like wrestling.
Thanks to the up and coming guys at the Jump Off, we've had the chance to speak on topics that just aren't discussed on televised pro wrestling.  It's kind of refreshing right?  Shout out to the Jump Off!  And those are my brothers, so it's a given that they think in the same terms as myself; too many things in our culture have lost their validity, their worth.  And to be able to find truth and intriguing things in this world anymore is rare.
Let's take our main topic of concern in this weekly article, pro wrestling, and try to do that yet again this week.  Here's a tidbit for you.  Chris Jerico, who's made a moderately successful comeback this year is going for another shot at a world title in the WWE.  Well, his popularity is nothing like it used to be.  His welcomed nuisance of a character has been more silly than menacing, like a Heel should be.  His light-up jacket, first off, doesn't allow him to be taken seriously.  On screen, he wants another title.  Off camera and going by certain reports, he's trying to really considering leaving the squared circle for good.  He loves everthing Vince comes up with.  He loves the WWE so who knows if it's true or not.  Would we miss him though is the question?  Or would it be a good thing?  Just a thought to ponder over...
Then we have other wrestlers on the fence because the WWE doesn't know what to do with them.  Christian is the first person that comes to mind.  I've never seen anyone come back from an injury and be treated so poorly.  As much as I like CM Punk, it was awkward to watch him be able to decimate Christian when his character was sending a message to Jerico, which by far has been the most relevant Chris Jerico, himself, has been since his return.  But now we have two Canadian wrestlers on the roster with no direction.  Both want to be champions, but the crowd is not interested.  Where do they go from here with either of them?
Don't let the storylines distract you.  There's a true struggle going on in my opinion of what to do with a number of wrestlers.  Ultimately, could this lead to a big overhaul of the roster.  Let's hear it people.  Is that what you would want to see?  Who should stay and who should go?

  1. I used to be a huge fan of Chris Jericho but I don't like what they've done with his character. But aside from that...I think that just as long as they keep selling out arenas the future of the WWE is looking pretty good.
